Normalize not forcing people to choose you. If they think they can find better elsewhere – let them. Respectfully.

Both!
I think Chloe had a childhood crush on Max that she didn’t realize were romantic feelings until later in life. She says in game things like “You’re so cute. You haven’t changed a bit.” and in Farewell she says “You’re not so bad yourself.” after Max compliments her. So I think Max was her first time having feelings for a girl.
Then Rachel came into her life when she was older and more able to realize her feelings. She understood her developing crush better and based on her dialogue about Rachel “saving her” from men I’m going it say it was this relationship that made her fully realize she was into women.
So I think Max was her first crush on a girl, but it was Rachel who made her fully realize she liked them. Which to me means they were both her awakening in a different way, but that could just be the multishipper speaking through me.
